In this article, we discuss what you should look out for when hiring a good cleaning company.
Whether you would like to hire a cleaning service to help you with an annual spring clean, a one-off task, or something on a more regular basis, there are a number of things that will affect your choice of cleaning company.
Here are the things that you should consider before deciding on the one cleaning company to commit to:
Check for license
Ensure that the company is registered with a cleaning license provided by NEA.
This is the first thing that you should check.
Asking friends and family members
Go and ask your friends and family whether they have any cleaning companies they would like to recommend. This enables you to have an inside look into the service level and cleaning quality by the company.
You can rely on business reviews that may write themselves to portray their business as amazing, experienced and credible. Or you can rely on a highly credible referral and testimonial from a friend or family. Which would you choose?
Try to read online reviews with a pinch of salt. Good reviews may be forged by companies by paying a small fee to online virtual assistants to churn out many for them. Sometimes, companies may provide an incentive or a “bribe” to get their customers to do a review that may not be genuine.
If you see relatively bad reviews, try not to judge too much. Speak to the company directly if you are interested in their services. Don’t let the bad reviews deter you. This is because some companies don’t actively get their customers to review on them. And because satisfied customers don’t tent to write reviews as compared to unhappy ones, you may experience some biasness in the reviews.
However, if you see that the company has a lot of negative reviews. That is something to take notice of and avoid.
Insurance and protection
This is so so important. Here are the things to look out for:
- The ability of the company to cover any damages done to the house by the cleaner
- Ability of the company to cover theft and injury that occur on your property
Check with the company whether they have everything insured and protected. Get them to produce evidence of their policies and protection.
This is also the main reason why some customers gravitate towards engaging a cleaning company instead of a freelance cleaner.
Every cleaning company provides different levels of quality and service, and hence they provide different cleaning prices to their customers.
Please make sure that you are provided with a free site inspection before you agree on anything, especially long-term contracts.
You should take note whether they provide you the following:
- Cleaning service at odd hours
- Emergency cleaning services
- Satisfaction guaranteed
- Insurance protection
- Equipment and products to be used
- Environment-friendly cleaning products (if you are particular about this)
Ask them specifically how frequent they would recommend cleaning for their level of cleaning.
